DCU hosts BAA Accounting Education SIG Annual Conferences

Prof Bernard Pierce, Executive Dean, DCU Business School, Prof. Ursula Lucas, University of the West of England, Prof. Donald Wygal, Rider University, and Prof. Neil Marriott, University of Winchester and Chairperson of the BAA Accounting Education Special Interest Group.

DCU Business School hosted the BAA Accounting Education SIG annual conference 2010 from 26-28 May 2010.

The conference brought together new and established researchers within the accounting education area. It provided researchers with a forum through which to present work at various stages of completion, to identify partners for collaborative research, and to access a network of continuing support.

Thirty six papers were presented on a wide range of accounting education topics together with two plenary presentations. Professor Ursula Lucas of the University of the West of England provided a thought provoking presentation titled "Towards a scholarship of teaching and learning: the individual and the communal journey", while Professor Donald Wygal of  Rider University  presented a stimulating session on "Teaching, scholarship and sharing: perspectives on community".
