The first national Science Week took place in 1996, and since then it has grown to over 400 events a year. Science Week 2007 runs from 11-18 November, and its main theme is “Surrounded by Science”. As part of the activities, the Faculty of Science and Health at DCU held its annual Science Open Day. There was an exhibition area of interactive demonstrations and tours of labs and facilities. Over six hundred students from local schools attended. DCU also played host to an interactive show, sponsored by Discover Science and Engineering, called Science2life with Sue McGrath. Many local primary schools and junior secondary school students were invited.
