Evanna Lynch, star of the new blockbuster movie, Harry Potter and The Order of Phoenix meets Education Minister Mary Hanafin

Education Minister Mary Hanafin during her visit to the Centre for Talented Youth in DCU met 15-year-old Evanna Lynch, star of the new blockbuster movie, Harry Potter and The Order of Phoenix who is attending the Centre.

CTYI is a youth programme for students between the ages of six and sixteen years and of high academic ability. The centre offers courses covering a wide spectrum for gifted students, including ‘Science of Tomorrow’, ‘Me & My Body’, ‘Intro To Chess’ and ‘Zoology’.

The programme, which has been running since 1992, gives children between the ages of 6 and 16 years of age the chance to develop, unleash and explore their hidden talents like no other education programme in this country. Over twenty seven thousand children from Ireland and abroad have participated in the courses since 1992.

Feedback from the programme suggests the CTYI experience influences the students in their choice of college course.
