New appointment to DCU Governing Authority

Dr Mary Shine Thompson, from St Patrick's College, was recently appointed to DCU Governing Authority. Mary has lectured in St Patrick's College since 1999 and was appointed College research coordinator in 2002. She is a member of the SPCD/DCU joint management group and DCU Research Ethics Committee, SPCD representative on DCU Academic Council, and has contributed to the strategic planning process at DCU.
She also chairs the Poetry Ireland Writer-in-Schools Scheme Consultative Group, was a member of the Arts Council of Ireland’s consultative group on best practice in arts in education, and a founder member of the Irish Society for the Study of Children’s Literature (ISSCL).
In spring 2006 with Professors Jenny Williams and Eithne Guilfoyle, she co-organised a joint DCU/SPCD writers’ workshop series, and, with Dr Gary Murphy and a DCU team, the fifth DCU interdisciplinary conference in the humanities and social sciences, ‘Mapping transformations: Identities and Communities’.
