Engineering graduates travelled from all over the globe to attend the Electronic Engineering, Class of 1985 Reunion on Friday, 6th May in DCU.

It was the first time in 20 years that the engineers returned to campus to catch up with fellow classmates and staff. The evening began with a drinks reception in the Research & Engineering building, followed by campus tours which gave graduates the opportunity to see first hand the transformation of DCU into a modern, vibrant university.

Next stop, the `1838 Club' in the Albert College building for the reunion dinner. How times have changed, as this was formerly home to the engineers during their time at DCU (then known as NIHE).

The highlight of dinner were the speeches as graduates and staff shared their best memories of DCU from Tom Moore's karate kicks, their first lecture with Professor Charles McCorkell to the tradition of students inviting staff for a drink before exams, not to thank them for their teaching but to try to find out the exam questions!

John Ringwood, former lecturer in the School of Electronic Engineering said, "DCU has gone from strength to strength, is not afraid to take risks and is a leading university."

Graduates clearly agree with this as many of them now want to support the university, be kept informed about developments, and are delighted to have renewed contact with DCU.
