DCU Launches Conference Ambassador Programme
28 April 2010

The DCU conference office in conjunction with Failte Ireland launched the Conference Ambassador Programme last Tuesday 20th April in The Helix. The Conference Ambassador Programme is a Failte Ireland initiative which provides both financial and practical advice and supports for anyone wishing to bid for and host their next international association conference in Ireland. DCU Deputy President/Registrar, Prof Anne Scott officially launched the programme and spoke very encouragingly about her experiences of both organising and hosting conferences in DCU. She noted that it was a very rewarding experience in terms of highlighting her current research and scholarship and also the networking opportunities that it presented during these events.
Niall English, Business Development Manager in DCU said the Conference Ambassador Programme is designed to remove the stress that can result from organising a large international conference by providing all the tools required to make the event a success. "We in the conference office in DCU would like to encourage any member of staff that wishes to host their association conference in DCU, but are reluctant to do so as they may not have the experience or the necessary skills to even know where to start, to contact us. We will apply to Failte Ireland on your behalf for funding, marketing support, bid documents and even conference bags and pens. Our office provides a full event management service during the planning and preparation stage and right up to and during the event itself. All we ask you to do is use your influence within your association to encourage the decision makers to bring the conference to Ireland".
