Japanese Society to represent DCU at National Awards

Japanese Society won the Best New Society Award at DCU Award’s ceremony last week, earning them the right to represent DCU at the National Awards at the Board of Irish College Societies Awards last night in Athlone. Here they scoped the Award of Ireland’s Best New Society, beating stiff competition from five other Colleges.
The Japanese Society began in September with just two founding members, who created this society to give students the opportunity to learn about Japan and to gain experience of Japanese culture in a fun and engaging way. Within two weeks their membership grew to 111 people and since then has increased to 127 members. Members learn Japanese language, experience Japanese film, taste Japanese food, engage in Japanese hobbies, and meet Japanese people. They have as full an experience of Japan as possible without actually going to Japan.
Congratulations also to Eimear Fitzmaurice, Style Soc , who won the Award of Best Society Poster for her Fashion Show Poster.
