DCU lecturer wins ECCH award
Tuesday 9 October 2007

Professor Colm O’Gorman, DCU Business School, received an award in the Entrepreneurship category at the 2007 European Case Clearing House Awards on Thursday 13 September 2007.
His case study on Abrakebabra asks what are the ingredients of a very successful fast food business. The Abrakebabra case study offers students and entrepreneurs some answers by telling the story of how Grame and Wyn Beere created and managed the rapid expansion of one of the most successful restaurant chains in Ireland.
The award was presented by Mark Jenkins, Cranfield School of Management and Chairman of ECCH, and Nicolas Harlé (Boston Consulting Group) at a ceremony in Chateau de Fontainebleau, France. The case was co-authored with Rosalind Beere (National College of Ireland) and Peter McNamara (University College Dublin). Awards are presented to authors of cases that achieve the highest rates of growth in popularity. All ECCH-registered cases authored or co-authored in Europe are put forward for the Awards. ECCH measures 'popularity' by reference to the number of institutions that have ordered a case to teach with. It is a quantitative and objective assessment, which avoids subjective opinion.
