National Win for DCU Sports Scholarship Student

Darren Sutherland, DCU Boxing Sports Scholarship student, won the 75kg Category at the National Senior Boxing Championships which were held in the National Stadium on Friday 2 February.

Darren forced Eamon O'Kane into two standing counts in the third. He claimed his second consecutive title, courtesy of a third-round stoppage. This is a great achievement for Darren and will certainly help his campaign to compete in the 2008 Olympics which are to be held in Bejing.

Speaking after the tournament, Irish Amateur Boxing Association President, Dominic O'Rourke described the 2007 Senior Championships as one of the best ever.
