Climate change - panel discussion at DCU
-26 January 2010

A panel discussion on climate change will take place next Friday 29th January in DCU.

The speakers include Prof John Sweeney, climatologist from NUI-Maynooth, who attended the Copenhagen summit in December. He will discuss the challenges of communicating the science of climate change following that event and in the face of rising scepticism about global warming.

Also speaking at the meeting are Prof Owen Lewis, chief executive of Sustainable Energy Ireland, and Dr Stephen Daniels, executive director of the National Centre for Plasma Science and Technology at DCU. Prof Lewis will consider the links between climate change and sustainable development and Dr Daniels will outline the current state of scientific knowledge on renewable energy resources.

The meeting will take place at 2pm on Friday, 29th January, in DCU Business School (room Q120). This panel discussion is part of a day-long workshop on aspects of sustainability, organised by Celsius, the DCU interdisciplinary research group on science in society.
