Prof Malcolm Smyth appointed as President of the Analytical Division of the RSC

Prof Malcolm Smyth, Dean of the Faculty of Science & Health at DCU, has been appointed President of the Analytical Division of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and is the first analytical chemist from the Republic of Ireland to hold this prestigious position.
The Royal Society of Chemistry is the largest organisation in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences with global membership of over 43,000. The RSC's work spans a wide range of activities connected with the science and profession of chemistry. It is involved in education, qualifications, conferences and publishing. It is recognised throughout the world as an authoritative voice of chemistry and chemists.
Malcolm has served as Dean of the Faculty of Science and Health since 1995 and joined Dublin City University in 1981. As well as being a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Malcolm is also a member of the Institute of Chemistry of Ireland and was elected member of the Royal Irish Academy (RIA).
He has received awards from the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and the SAC Gold Medal for Analytical Chemistry from the Analytical Division of the RSC.
