'Future of Politics' conference

You are invited to attend a major conference on the Future of Politics hosted by the School of Law and Government in Dublin City University, 30 August to 1 September

It will be the largest conference of its type to be held in Ireland when five hundred (500) early career academics from all over Europe meet to present their work at the European Consortium for Political Research.

The conference will also be addressed by two world famous scholars.

The keynote lecture will be delivered by Professor Michael Cox of the London School of Economics (LSE) titled "The Coming Crisis of the West?". (Tuesday 31 August, 6pm, Helix, DCU: followed by reception) Professor Michael Cox has spoken to high profile audiences around the world and has produced over 20 books including one on 'The Rise and Fall of the American Empire'; 'The United States and World Order' and a series, on 'Rethinking World Politics'.

On Monday evening Professor Philippe Schmitter (European Union Institute, Florence) will give a lecture on "The micro-foundations of the sciences of politics" (5.30pm Helix, DCU: followed by reception). Professor Schmitter is a world renowned scholar of democratisation.

The conference covers a wide range of contentious political issues included Islamic terrorism, women in post conflict reconstruction, human rights, interest groups in world politics and impact of the media.
