DCU student ringing alumni during the telethon

The month of June was a busy one for the Educational Trust - we ran the first of this year's Telethons to help raise much needed funding for the DCU Access Scholarship Programme. 12 DCU students phoned Alumni to ask for their support and got a great response! Some of our student callers are on the Access Programme so this helped in getting a clear message across of what the Access Programme is all about and why the funds are so vital. The Telethons are important in giving us a chance to tell graduates all about the developments in the University and also gather new information on Alumni in order to update their profiles

We received valuable support from Alumni, with 304 people pledging over €20,000 to the Programme, giving a 19% increase in donors and a 29% increase in donations on the Autumn 04 Telethon. At a cost of €2,000 per scholarship per year, this means 10 students will benefit from the money raised! This goal could only have been reached because of the awareness being created by our previous Telethons, so the future looks bright as we build a foundation of Alumni awareness and support.
