DCU President, Prof. Ferdinand von Prondzynski spoke today (August 12th) on RTE Radio 1's Morning Ireland programme about the possible re-introduction of third level fees.

Prof. von Prondzynski spoke on yesterday's (July 29th) RTE Radio 1 Drivetime programme about the proposed payroll cuts in the education sector.

President von Prondzynski also spoke on the Newstalk 106 Breakfast Show in regard to jobs and foreign nationals.

Fine Gael spokesman for Integration and Immigration, Denis Naughten, has sparked a debate with his claim that 90% of new jobs created in the past 12 months went to foreign workers because unemployed workers didn't have the right skill to compete.

Eva Bryan, Development Manager with Irish Recruitment Consultant, said that she was surprised by the figures but there were other reasons that workers were losing out.

According to Ferdinand Von Prondzynski, DCU President, it's true that there are highly trained people in other countries who are under employed or in some cases unemployed and available to come in Ireland for lower salaries.
