Laois Boss McNulty and Former Dubs Captain Moran Announced as DCU MBA Scholars

19 November 2010

Dublin City University Business School and the Gaelic Players Association are delighted to announce that Laois manager and former Armagh star Justin McNulty and former Dublin football captain Colin Moran have been granted scholarship places on the prestigious Executive MBA Programme.

Having satisfied the entry requirements and the selection process, the two former inter-county stars will participate in the MBA two-year part-time programme, widely recognised as the degree of choice for rising executives with ambitions to become leaders in their respective employment.

The internationally accredited DCU MBA is hugely successful in preparing students for the challenges of business leadership.
The scholarship with DCU Business School forms part of the GPA’s expanding education portfolio under its Player Development Programme.
The DCU MBA programme is aimed at established and mid-career business professionals and technical and engineering specialists who want to make the transition to senior management positions. Participants are typically drawn from a variety of industry sectors, including financial services, manufacturing and technology, as well as the public and not-for-profit sectors.

Speaking about the announcement, GPA CEO Dessie Farrell said: “I’d like to congratulate Justin and Colin on receiving their scholarships for the Executive MBA in DCU. The Scholarship is a significant addition to our portfolio and will provide a wonderful opportunity for both men to enhance their careers. The development is also indicative of the growing educational commitment of the GPA to its members, past and present. I’d like to thank Dublin City University sincerely for supporting this scholarship programme. The GPA is committed to developing long-term educational partners and we are delighted that DCU Business School is the first.”

The Executive Dean of DCU Business School, Professor Bernard Pierce, commented: “DCU has had a long involvement in sport and is committed to supporting the career development of people involved in various aspects of sport through, for example, our School of Health and Human Performance and the DCU Sports Academy. In that sense, we share a common objective with the GPA and DCU Business School is delighted to work in partnership with the GPA on this important initiative. I wish Colin and Justin every success in their studies and future careers.”
