Former UK Government Minister at DCU
4 April 2011

Best selling political diarist and former British government minister Chris Mullin this week visited DCU to lecture in the School of Communications.
Mullin, who was an MP for 23 years and a leading campaigner for the release of the Birmingham Six, gave a special lecture to students on the MA in Political and Public Communication.
Students were treated to a fascinating history of contemporary British politics and insightful comment on the relationship between the political process and the media. The lecture - entitled ' The rise and fall of New Labour' - was filled with insider stories and colourful recollections from Tony Blair-Gordon Brown era.
A minister in three departments until his retirement in 2010 Mullin also spoke at a public event on the role of the political memoir. The first two volumes of his diaries have been described as 'the sharpest and most revealing political diaries since Alan Clark'. A third volume is out in the autumn.
The event was organised by the School of Communications at DCU and the Political Studies Association of Ireland.
