DCU to open new on-campus residence:
Places guaranteed for students with 500+ CAO points

07 April 2003

DCU has announced details of a new apartment complex on campus which will accommodate a further 450 students. Due for completion in 2004 the College Park Apartments will be opened on a phased basis next September.

Currently the university has 548 residences for undergraduates and 103 for postgraduate students.

Residences are generally allocated through a lottery system but, with the increased numbers available the university has decided to offer guaranteed places to new first-year students with 500+ CAO points who wish to study at DCU as their first preference.

These places are in addition to a guaranteed minimum of 165 places to first-years, which are allocated in July through a lottery system. It is not possible to predict the final number of residences we will be allocating to first-year students but we should be more definitive next year.

The new College Park apartments consist of 450 units made up of four or five en-suite bedrooms all finished to a very high standard. The Larkfield Apartments have 127 units, each with two study bedrooms and a shared living/kitchen/dining area. These apartments are generally allocated to first-year students. The Hampsead Apartments consist of 57 units, each with five en-suite bedrooms and a shared living/kitchen/dining area and 3 units each with three en-suite bedrooms and a shared living/kitchen/dining area. The College Park Apartments are due for completion in 2004 and will become available on a phased basis from September 2003. All residences are served by a central reception, run by Campus Residences Ltd.
