Bill O'Herlihy to launch Heartsmart at DCU

Bill O'Herlihy, sports personality of the year and RTE sports commentator, will launch the HeartSmart programme at DCU. HeartSmart is a cardiac rehabilitation programme to help individuals who have had a cardiac 'episode'. This is the only one of its kind in Ireland.

The event will be attended by hospital consultants who refer patients to DCU, local GPs, DCU staff and students who work on the programme.

The event hopes to raise the importance of all aspects of cardiac rehabilitation - nutrition, medication, exercise, return to work and normal activity issues as well as clinical psychology and counselling.

Bill will meet members of the class and join in an exercise session in the DCU Sports Centre DCU President and Dr Niall Moyna of DCU Sport Science and Health will also be available for photos with Bill O'Herlihy.
