DCU to release 500 helium balloons to mark World Mental Health Day
- 4 October 2006
DCU School of Nursing and its partner hospitals will release in total over 1700 helium balloons to mark World Mental Health Day on Tuesday October 10th at 12.00pm.
Well known presenter Gareth O’ Callaghan, now counsellor, will launch the event outside the school of nursing on DCU campus at 12.00pm. Over 500 balloons will be released outside the School of Nursing, tagged with personal messages attached on mental health.
You are welcome to come along to the School of Nursing and write a note on any aspect of mental health and offer it up for family members or friends who are affected by mental health issues.
The theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day is ‘Building Awareness- Reducing Risk: Mental Illness and Suicide.’ The School of Nursing is committed to supporting positive mental health within health services setting and the community at large and is looking forward to individuals contributing to the initiative.
It is hoped that the event will help reduce stigma associated with mental illness and help build a sense of solidarity.
All are welcome to attend DCU School of Nursing at 12.00pm on Tuesday 10th October.ENDS
