Prof Richard O'Kennedy lectures at Irish Times/RDS Science Today series

Prof Richard O'Kennedy

Prof Richard O'Kennedy, school of biological sciences, gave a talk on one of his research specialism at the Irish Times/RDS Science Today Lecture.

His talk entitled 'Exploiting the Immune System' included an examination of the mechanism of cancer and how the body's immune system works to fight against the disease. He stressed the importance of understanding both the behaviour and functions of antibodies in the human body and how they can work in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

This series of lectures are organised to alert public awareness to the importance of scientific research.
