Kathleen Grennan, Mary Farrell and Michaela Bowden who received the Colin Barnes award for Postgraduate Excellence

The Surface Science Symposium 2003, which is being held in memory of Dr. Colin Barnes, takes place from the 8 - 9 May 2003 on DCU campus. Senior speakers from the most respected organisations and research groups will be present during the two-day programme to discuss the latest developments and achievements in this field.

On Thursday evening 8 May 2003 the ceremony for the Colin Barnes award for Postgraduate Excellence took place. Kathleen Grennan, Michaela Bowden, and Mary Farrell, who are all postgraduate students in Chemistry (Research), were presented with this award. The winners were nominated for the award were put forward by fellow students on the basis of academic excellence during the course of their programme.
