At a small ceremony in the Albert College building on Friday evening, 30 September Prof Ferdinand von Prondzynski presented Prof Mohie El Baradie with a piece of Dublin Crystal to mark his retirement from the school of mechanical and manufacturing engineering.

Prof Mohie El Baradie started in DCU in 1988, when it was known as NIHE. The following year DCU was granted university status. When called upon to say a few words the professor jokingly implied that his appointment had influenced this decision by the government.

A representative from the Egyptian Ambassy attended the evening, as well as other business contacts Prof Mohie El Baradie has developed over the 14 years at the university.

We all wish Prof Mohie El Baradie every happiness for his retirement.
