John Palmer (former NBC journalist) speaks in Dublin on 15 April

John Palmer was a top anchor and Washington-based correspondent for NBC News for nearly three decades - covering five US presidents, Carter, Bush, Reagan, Clinton and Bush. Most of Palmer's career was with NBC News where he spent 26 years. He was news anchor for "Today" from 1982 to 1989 and White House correspondent from 1979 to 1982. In his programme "Instant Recall", he interviewed many world figures including Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, Anwar Sadat, Henry Kissinger, and astronaut Alan Sheppard.

Prior to his White House assignment, Palmer did stints in Lebanon, Cyprus, and Angola where he covered civil and international wars. He received the Overseas Press Club Award and a National Emmy for his report on famine in Africa as well a second Emmy for his coverage of the US space programme.

John Palmer will be in Ireland to speak at Dublin City University on Thursday 15 April at 7.00pm. He will share the real "West Wing" and provide an insider's view of what makes America tick.
