Equality Review to be carried out at DCU - staff involvement a necessity for success
4 March 2003

In order to establish the current situation in DCU with regard to equality, a special review is to be carried out amongst staff by a team of independent equality auditors. Supported by the President and Executive, the Equality Authority is funding the review and will ensure that it is carried out to the highest possible standards. The review will form the basis of an Equality Action Plan for the University.
Key steps in the review
1. the University's policies, practices and procedures will
be examined and assessed for equality outcomes
2. each member of staff will be asked to participate in
a major equality survey.
(The DCU Equality Review Questionnaire will be confidential
and non-identifiable. It will be posted online and staff
will be invited to complete and return it to the auditors).
3. Focus group workshops will be conducted across the University
When will the review be completed?
May 2003 The review, including the staff survey and focus groups,
will begin immediately and be completed by May.
June 2003 The Interim Report on the review due for completion.
September 2003 The final report on the findings due for
completion.
September 2003 Summary of review of findings due for publication.
A comprehensive and successful review can only be accomplished with the cooperation and goodwill of staff across the University community.
When the review has been completed, the university will be in a position to draw up an Equality Action Plan to promote equality and ensure that the University meets its strategic objective of developing a culture of partnership, dignity, diversity, equality and respect at DCU.
