Deputy John Bruton appointed as Adjunct Faculty Member
10 February 2004

Deputy John Bruton has been appointed as an Adjunct Faculty Member in the School of Law and Government for a three-year renewable period beginning 1 January 2004. Deputy Bruton is one of the leading figures in public life in Ireland. As a former Taoiseach, Minister of State and, more recently, a member of the Praesidium of the Convention on the Future of Europe, Deputy Bruton has an unparalleled experience of public affairs and record of public service. Deputy Bruton has a BA in Economics and Politics from UCD and he has a training in Law, qualifying as a barrister in the King's Inn. He has also given public lectures at some of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world, including Princeton and Yale.
Deputy Bruton will give guest lectures on the School's highly successful MA in International Relations and MA in Globalisation programmes. In addition, will teach a module on the Development of the European Union in the second semester of the 2004-05 academic year on the above programmes. Furthermore, Deputy Bruton has expressed a keen interest to undertake academic research. This is a very exciting prospect as Deputy Bruton's experience would complement the School's existing research focus, particularly in the fields of Governance and International Studies. More information about the School's research interests and taught programmes can be found at www.dcu.ie/lawandgovernment.
