There is another call for congratulations as yet again DCU come up trumps in national sport.

The DCU men's volleyball team not only topped the All-Ireland Premier League, but also remained unbeaten throughout the entire season. DCU beat Aer Lingus, three sets to nothing, in the final game of the tournament which took place on Sunday 7 April 2002.

Dr Kieran Moran, Volleyball Club President, said, "This is a tremendous achievement in a league open to the top eight teams in the country". Attributing the success to the strong club structure built over the last eight to ten years, he continued "This structure was made possible due to the tremendous support from the Sports Complex staff, the DCU Clubs and Societies committee and the University through its funding."

Five players from the DCU volleyball team currently play for the national volleyball team. They are Jeff King, Glen Malone, Daibhid O'Cluaid, Peter MacDonnell and Bobby Mosca.

DCU areset to do it again when they play Trinity in the Premier Championship Cup in ALSAA, this Saturday 27th April at 4pm. The match will be televised and shown in full by NTL (the time and date are yet to be finalised).
