Intel scholarships awarded to Applied Physics students
17 May 2002

Every year Intel awards engineering/science scholarships to Intel Partner Institutions which are DCU, UCD,TCD, NUIM, UCC and UL. Six scholarships are awarded annually to full time undergraduate students in the second year of an Engineering/Science Degree course. DCU applied physics students have a good record of success in this Scholarship programme, but this year DCU can basque in is glory because for the first time DCU has received two scholarships in the same award round.

The award winning students, Caroline Banahan and Michael Kelly, second year applied physics students, are coincidentally both from Co. Kilkenny. They where chosen from a total of 18 students. The screening process is a written application followed by an interview at Intel.

The award prize is €2000 per annum for the reminder of their course and a summer work placement in Intel. In the case of DCU students this can be taken up during Intra placement.

Congratulations to Caroline and Michael.
