Supper and a Song!
13 March 2003

On Monday March 10 in the Common Room in the Post Grad Centre a group of staff members gathered for an evening of performance - 'a bit of a do'. Our gathering was small and informal. Together around the fire, we enjoyed music, song and poetry. We lit candles, drank wine, ate supper and performed. Dermot played the fiddle, Muireann had her whistle and Maeve was in fine voice.

The purpose of the evening was to bring staff together informally for a few hours in a social setting. We started at 6pm with something to eat and we began to wrap up shortly after 9pm. The commitment was minimal and the return substantial. The evening was organised by Maeve O'Byrne, our Access Officer, and myself and we tried to some degree to include a cross section of the University community. We intend holding gatherings like again, and if you think you would like to be a part of this in the future, please let me know, all are welcome.
