The DCU GAA Scholarship Scheme Presentation, now in its sixth year, was held in the Albert College Building on Monday 25 November. These financial scholarships are intended to cover training, travelling and coaching expenses, recipients also receive free access to Sport and Recreation facilities and services. There are also advanced fitness testing, compliments of Sports Science and Health Department, for the athletes involved in the scholarship scheme. Eleven students were awarded scholarships under the scheme; all 2002 scholarship recipients are listed below along with students currently receiving GAA scholarships.

Stephen Cluxton, a GAA scholarship recipient (pictured above), and Paddy Christie, a DCU graduate, both also received GAA Vodafone All Star Awards at the ceremony televised by Network 2 on Friday 29 November. The GAA Vodafone All Star Awards are an annual award ceremony where the best 15 gaelic footballers and the best 15 hurlers are chosen and each group is said to make up the All Star team for that year.

On a wider scale, the GAA in DCU could not operate at the scale it does without the support of the University and its sponsors. Currently there are ten teams competing in higher education competitions. The contribution of the Sports Clubs Committee is invaluable. The financial sponsorship of AIB Bank, Snap Printing Santry, Power Management, Eurospar Ballymun Road and the support of Leinster Council is invaluable to the continued success of GAA teams from DCU.
