Entries and nominations are now being called for the ninth annual Guinness Living Dublin Awards, which were recently launched at a special ceremony in Gravity Bar, Guinness Storehouse.

Last year the Awards were extended to allow entries from third level students and student groups, and the new Education category is being chaired by Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski, President of Dublin City University.

Any student, faculty member or student organisation making wider contributions to the community through initiatives involving their college or university is eligible for these Awards, which aim to reward and recognise those making Dublin a better place to live, work, study or visit. Examples include fundraising for a charity, organising a cultural or community event or cleaning up the local area.

There is a €25,000 prize fund to be divided amongst the winners, who will also receive a specially designed art piece by Leo Higgins. The overall winner will also receive a specially designed John Behan sculpture.

The closing date for entries is Friday, June 28, 2002 and entry forms can be obtained from the Awards Office, or from the website.
