Martina Crehan
DCU's first year student support facilitator

Martina Crehan has taken up her post as the first year student support facilitator. One of her functions is to ensure that all new students make a successful and happy transition from second level to the university environment. She will also examine and evaluate existing student support measures such as orientation, personal tutoring and peer mentoring, and carry out research on factors affecting student retention and attrition. Martina is based in student affairs, where she collaborates closely with existing services such as counselling, careers and appointments, student financial assistance, etc. Although not exclusively, most of Martina's work focuses on first year students with particular emphasis on the adjustment and acclimatisation of students to tertiary education.
Martina aims to work collaboratively with staff and has an open door policy. Although she will be meeting most staff through programme board meetings, she welcomes individual contact with you to discuss any matter relating to student welfare.
