Yet again Prof. Dermot Diamond makes the front page of online news as he receives recognition for his work in sensor research. On 1 July 2002 Dermot was conferred with a DSC from his Alma Mater Queen's University, Belfast.

Prof Diamond has made significant contributions in the field of chemical sensors and biosensor arrays, particularly with respect to sensor fabrication, signal acquisition, data processing, and the development of intelligent sensing systems.
