2004 International Biology Olympiad (IBO)
4 August 2004

The 2004 IBO was held in Brisbane, Australia from the 11th - 18th July. The Irish team was selected and trained by Professor Richard O Kennedy, Elizabeth Tully and Sharon Stapleton of the School of Biotechnology. A panel of fourteen medal winners at the ISO-Biology in December were given additional training and assignments before the team of four was finally selected in May. These four students received a weeklong intensive residential training programme in DCU on the IBO syllabus prior to their departure for Brisbane. Joanna Curry and Marguerite Carter were awarded Bronze IBO medals. This brings to twelve the number of International Biology Medals won by Irish students since Ireland first participated in the IBO in 1998.
