DCU's Community Office, with support from FAS, run a five-week computer programme for pupils from Our Lady of Victory Boys School, Ballymun Road. The programme, which runs every five weeks, finishes with an awards ceremony for students who complete the course. December's awards, which took place on Thursday 5 December 2002, differed from June's ceremony because three parents sat the course alongside their sons.

Joe Tunney, from FAS, who presented the pupils and parents with their certificates, said that he was delighted to be involved in such a worthwhile programme with proven success from the growing number of students and recent parents' involvement.

The five-week programme, taught by Margaret Keegan and Richard Ryan from the Community Office, covers email, the internet and basic Microsoft word functions.
