Yet another first for Helen Shaw, DCU graduate

Shaw, RTÉ's Director of Radio since 1997, has received an international Weatherhead fellowship from Harvard University. Helen, the first Irish woman to receive this honour, is used to taking the lead. She was one of the first graduates from NIHE's postgraduate diploma in journalism (now DCU's masters in journalism) and she was also the first woman to be appointed to the executive board of RTE.

The Weatherhead Centre for International Affairs, within the faculty of arts and sciences, is the largest international research centre in Harvard. Helen also received a scholarship from the International Women's Forum for her fellowship programme.

RTÉ's Director- General, Bob Collins congratulated Helen on her fellowship and recognised her input in to Irish radio, sighting her instrumental involvement in Lyric FM as one such example of her commitment and dedication.
