Me and my shadow - second-level pupils 'follow' DCU students for a day
9 March 2004

Thursday 4 March 2004 was the first of this year's Shadowing Days, during which appproximately 50 second-level students visited the DCU campus. This is an annual event organised by the Access Service. First and second year students from DCU's five faculties, and representing a wide range of the degree programmes being run at DCU, volunteered to bring one or two pupils with them to classes, labs and the library, to give them an insight into a typical day of a third level student. This includes, of course, coffee breaks, lunch and possible trips to the gym and other sporting events.

The Access Programme works with 17 local schools in the north Dublin area and carries out a number of activities which are all aimed at raising awareness about third level education.
