March graduations at DCU
Three ceremonies are taking place in the Mahony Hall in the Helix, featuring students from the university’s five faculties: DCU Business School, the Institute of Education, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Science and Health, and the Faculty of Engineering and Computing.
Today sees forty two graduates receive their PhDs.
It will also see the first graduates of the Professional Diploma in Teaching Physics (PDITP). There are nineteen graduates from the PDITP.
Speaking on Friday morning, Prof Daire Keogh, President of Dublin City University encouraged the graduates to be active citizens. He said the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement was a reminder of the importance of engaged citizenship and of an education which develops civic skills for a new society.
“The achievement of the Good Friday Agreement reflects our own commitment in the DCU mission to nothing less than ‘transforming lives and societies’. This is a lofty ambition, but this is a time for thinking big.
“It’s not a time for sitting back and being complacent. It's time for a DCU attitude driven by empathy, engagement, and leadership.”
