award - ibm/dcu student project of the year
Congratulations to John Mallon - Winner of the IBM/DCU Student Project of the Year Competition
John Mallon, who has just completed his final year in Mechatronic Engineering, has won the "IBM/DCU Student Project of the Year" competition.
The competition was open to final year students of Computing, Engineering and Science in DCU, and was set up by IBM to encourage and motivate gifted students to continue with their IT-related studies, hopefully to Doctoral level.
John's project, "Mobius, an integrated design towards the implementation of an autonomous mobile robot" was selected by the Research Advisory Panel of DCU, and the final adjudication was made by IBM.
John has won an all-expenses paid trip to Zurich to attend a three-day incentive workshop which is being held at IBM's prestigious European Research Laboratory. He will join 50 of the best Engineering and Computer Science students graduating in 2001 from across Europe and the Middle East.
John will be continuing his research at DCU in the area of mechanical and electrical engineering.
