Scott Nichol with Noelle Noonan, organiser of the Computer Services headshave event Following a recent sponsored head shave, DCU's Information Systems & Services raised £6,300 for the Irish Heart Foundation today. The cheque was received by the Regional Manager of the foundation, Joe Fitzpatrick, who said that DCU's donation was the largest he had received from a non-corporate body in his twenty years as Regional Manager of the foundation.

The headshaving event was organised following two incidences of stroke, one by a family member and one by a close friend of members of the Information Systems & Services.

Information Systems & Services The event took place in the nearby Matt Weldon's pub on Ballymun Road, and was supported by staff and by members of the local community. Staff members who offered their locks to the razor were Brian Davison, Michael Feeney, Justin Doyle, Ian Bell, John Doyle, Noel O'Connor, Donal Hunt, Owen Reynolds, Scott Nichol, Aidan Garde, Michael McConalogue, Niall O'Leary, Dave Packham, Liam O'Sullivan, Tom Cotter and Niall Taylor.

They were supported by the Head of the Computer Services Unit, Brendan Tolan who said that it was a tremendous group effort on the part of his team. "This event was great fun, but we were all aware that it was in aid of a very good cause", Brendan said. "Recent events have certainly made us more aware of the issues of heart disease, and we are pleased by the response of all those who supported the event".

The Vice-President of DCU, Prof Albert Pratt, who passed on the cheque to the Heart Foundation praised Noelle Noonan in particular for her organisation of the event.
