Head of School Selection Process

  • The Executive Dean discusses the upcoming position with their DCU People Partner.

  • The Executive Dean will send an expressions of interest email including the vacancy reference number provided by DCU People to all eligible School members in the relevant School and copy talent@dcu.ie.

  • Prospective candidates will be required to engage in an informal discussion with the Executive Dean prior to submitting an expression of interest.

  • Candidates who wish to express an interest in the role will submit a completed academic application form along with an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV) to DCU People (talent@dcu.ie) by the specified deadline (normally there will be a two week application period).

  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview conducted by a formal selection board. As part of the process, candidates will present their vision, strategic priorities, and ambitions for the School to the selection board.

  • The selection board will be convened and chaired by the President or Deputy President, will be gender balanced and will comprise of the following members:

    • President or Deputy President (Chair)
    • Executive Dean (Hiring Manager)
    • A nominated academic staff member from the School
    • Vice President, People & EDI (or nominee)
  • The outcome will be communicated to all applicants initially by the Executive Dean and followed up with a formal outcome by DCU People.
