Academic biography

Kate graduated with a degree in Athletic Therapy and Training from Dublin City University in 2009 and an MSc in physiotherapy in 2012.  She completed a second MSc in clinical pain management and is currently a Professional Doctorate candidate investigating chronic pain rehabilitation and self-determination theory.  She is currently an Associate Professor, teaching on the BSc in Athletic Therapy and Training in DCU.   She is the current Chair of the ARTI Certification Committee. Kate has also achieved The EDPP qualification from the European Pain Federation.

Kate Sheridan is primarily interested in research that enhances rehabilitation and social inclusion for people living with chronic pain.  Her main research focus is examining pain rehabilitation in the community using available resources and infrastructure.  She is also committed to enhancing third level education in pain rehabilitation for healthcare professionals.  She has twelve years of clinical experience working with chronic pain patients that drives her commitment to research that delivers practical solutions.
