Academic biographyJohn White has worked as a primary school teacher, primary school principal, primary school inspector and is now working in the School of Policy and Practice. He works as Director of Professional Placement and Director of the DCU Changemaker Schools Network. He also works on undergraduate and post-graduate programs in the Institute of Education. His interests include classroom communication, nonverbal communication, creativity, arts-based research, leadership, embodied cognition, Science and Mathematics education.
I have been involved in research in primary schools in the following fields: teaching skills, nonverbal communication, peer appraisal, leadership, well-being, embodied cognition, creativity and the use of arts-based methods in educational research.
Current research work examines the value and use of embodied cognition as a method for delivering science education in Irish primary schools.
