Academic biography
Zita Lysaght (BEd, MEd, MSc, EdD) is an Associate Professor in the School of Policy and Practice. A former primary teacher, deputy principal and assistant national co-ordinator with Leadership Development for Schools, her current teaching, research publications and doctoral supervision focus primarily on assessment and mixed-methods research and design. Her work aims to promote balanced, fair and equitable assessment, and teacher assessment and research literacy in education. Towards this end, Zita has acted inter alia as Interim Director of the Centre for Assessment Research and Policy in Education (CARPE), Chair of Post-Graduate Studies by Research and Co-Chair of the EdD in the Institute of Education, DCU. Zita has twice received the President's award for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and was a member of the evaluation group of DCU's flagship programme, Futures. Zita is a member of the NCCA working group responsible for developing the revised primary assessment guidelines, to complement the Redeveloped Primary Curriculum Framework and Curriculum Specifications.
