Registration Rules

1. You must choose C1 and C2 modules in Year 1 and CA,SDA and OI501 modules in Year 2.
2. To study SDA you will require an android phone containing either the Marshmallow or later version of operating system and a laptop. 
3. Pre-requisite modules, please note C2 must be successfully completed in order to be eligible to register for the SDA module.  

          Laptop Requirement

          DCU Open Education operates a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy for this programme. A powerful laptop computer is essential for successful participation in tutoriials, workshops and for completing assignments.

           A recommended minimum laptop cnfiguration is:

           8GB of RAM (16GB recommended)

           64-bit x86 processor (i3 minimum with support for Intel® VT-x, Intel® EM64T (Intel® 64), and Execute Disable (XD) Bit functionality); 100+ GB of hard disk; 

           Wifi card; 

           A high speed broadband connection; 

           Microsoft® Windows® 7/8/10 (32- or 64-bit) or Mac® OS X® 10.8.5 or higher, up to 10.11.4 (El Capitan) and on windows, release of Mac OS or Windows operating system (Windows 7 or higher, Microsoft® Windows® 7/8/10 (32- or 64-bit)

For the IDE: Android Studio, please find requirements below: It is strongly recommended that you install the Android Studio IDE, before the course starts. If your development environment is Windows, you will also need to ensure that the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs) drivers are available. These drivers enable Android Studio to talk to your phone.  This can be verified by checking the following website

System Requirements for Android Studio Installation

Windows

·         Microsoft® Windows® 7/8/10 (32- or 64-bit)

·         3 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB RAM recommended

• 2 GB of available disk space minimum,
  4 GB Recommended (500 MB for IDE + 1.5 GB for Android SDK and emulator system image)
• 4 GB Recommended (500 MB for IDE + 1.5 GB for Android SDK and emulator system image)

·         1280 x 800 minimum screen resolution

·         Java Development Kit (JDK) 8

·         For accelerated emulator: 64-bit operating system and Intel® processor with support for Intel® VT-x, Intel® EM64T (Intel® 64), and Execute Disable (XD) Bit functionality

Mac

·         Mac® OS X® 10.8.5 or higher, up to 10.11.4 (El Capitan)

·         3 GB RAM minimum, 8 GB RAM recommended
