SMEC 2018: Early Career Researchers' Event

SMEC 2018 will be preceded by a half-day event aimed at early career researchers. This event will take place in the DCU Institute of Education on Monday 25th June and will provide an excellent opportunity to network and showcase your work with other researchers in science and mathematics education.The programme of activities will include an address by Dr. Aisling Leavy (Head of STEM Education, Mary Immaculate College of Education, University of Limerick, General Editor of Irish Educational Studies). Dr. Leavy will give a talk on transforming graduate research into publications. Participants will engage in an interactive poster presentation where each presenter will be given dedicated time to present on their research and will engage in follow-up discussion. The event will also include break out session where participants will get the opportunity to discuss their work with participants with simialr research interests. There will be a cash prize for the best entry, which will be presented at the end of the main SMEC conference on June 26th. 

We invite abstract submissions from researchers at the undergraduate level (e.g. research from a final year project), postgraduate researchers (M.Ed., M.Sc., Ph.D., Ed.D., etc.) and researchers up to two years post PhD. The research can be related to any aspect of STEM education. 

The abstract should be prepared as described here. The registration and submission portal  is available here. The deadline for submissions is 7th May with notification of results on or before 21st May.
