Gaelic Games

Another action packed weekend of gaelic games which also saw 8000 supporters in Croke park and they were treated to two action packed games. In the opening game at HQ Dublin booked their place in the Leinster final with a 4 point win over Galway and DCU were well represented by current students Conor Burke & Daire Gray(3pts) and past students Donal Burke grabbing 6pts and Chris Crummey netting for the winners. In the second game Kilkenny advanced to the final after an extra-time win over Wexford with DCU students John Donnelly and Rory O'Connor both getting on the scoresheet for their counties.

In leinster football Dublin advanced to a semi-final after beating Wexford with DCU well represented on the field but it was former DCU student Stephen Cluxtons future that was grabbing all the headlines. Dublin now face Meath who had a comfortable win over Longford, current DCU Matthew Costello getting on the scoreboard for the victors. On the other side of the draw Kildare advanced to the semis with a 5py victory over Offaly, DCU Students Darragh Kirwan and Kevin Flynn impressing for Kildare who now meet Westmeath after a comfortable victory over Laois, DCU student Sam McCartan making his championship debut for the winners and DCU Sport CEO Ken Robibson also a coach the team. 

In Ulster Monaghan will now play Armagh after beating Fermanagh with former DCU Sigerson Cup winner Michael Bannigan grabbing 2pts for the farney county.
