Academic biography

Nicola Broderick is an Assistant Professor in Science Education and Social, Environmental and Scientific Education. She works in the area of Initial Teacher Education and Teacher Professional Learning. Nicola previously worked as a primary school teacher and deputy principal in Co. Meath.

Currently Nicola's main responsibilities include researching, developing and facilitating ITE and continuous professional learning in science education. Nicola has developed educational resources in science and published in the areas of teaching and learning in primary science, STEM education, Nature of Science, Education for Sustainable Development and teacher professional learning.

Nicola completed her Doctorate of Education at Dublin City University, which examined the impact of teaching primary science through socioscientific issues on children's scientific literacy.

Nicola is a member of the Centre for the Advancement STEM Teaching and Learning (CASTeL), International Professional Development Association (IPDA) Ireland and the Irish Association for Primary Science Education (IAPSE).

Nicola welcomes contact from organisations and individuals interested in all areas outlined above and all areas related to science/STEM education.
