Academic biography

Dr. Catherine M. Faherty has joined the faculty of DCU Business School as Assistant Professor in Enterprise.  Catherine joins DCU from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, USA, where she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Kellogg Center for Family Enterprises.Catherine earned her PhD from DCU Business School in 2018, where she was a recipient of the prestigious Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholarship.  During her doctorate, she held visiting Research Fellow positions at Northwestern University USA and Northeastern University USA.  Catherine’s research focuses on trust dynamics in organizational contexts, specifically family-owned enterprises.  Her work has won several international awards, including the Frederic M. Jablin Doctoral Dissertation Award from the International Leadership Association, and was runner-up for the Grigor McClelland Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies.Catherine’s research has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed scholarly outlets, including Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, and her work is regularly presented at leading international conferences.  Catherine is a founding member of the National Centre for Family Business at Dublin City University.
