What we do

DCU Studio was established in 2020. During this time (when not supporting the pivot to remote teaching), our staff have developed over 100 learning opportunities across programmes, micro-credentials, modules, and online courses for diverse audiences and purposes in conjunction with DCU Academics and Professional Service Units. These experiences, and others developed by our team, have reached over 100,000 learners, and we are always eager to collaborate and build upon this strong foundation through new and transformative forms of learning.

Our primary services include the following:

  • End-to-end project management and learning design and development services
  • High-quality multimedia production for learning resources
  • Short-form learning support for micro-credential development, in conjunction with academic and administrative staff
  • Business development services to support the provision of a short form learning portfolio on behalf of the University

The philosophy we adopt is that of a meitheal, fostering collaboration both internally as a team, and externally with our wider stakeholders, to further DCU’s mission. We are extremely passionate about what we do and take great pride in the recognition which our staff have received from members of the wider DCU community:

"In working with DCU Studio recently on an exciting new DCU Futures module, we have established an effective collaboration that blends both familiarisation with learning technologies, a schedule of objectives and a showcasing of learning possibilities for both myself and our students.

The mix of learning technologists, digital learning support, and digital learning design, project management, coupled with my own background in psychology was a productive and stimulating journey for what has become a very engaging module." - Dr. Darragh McCashin, School of Psychology

“I have worked with DCU Studio for the last two years, setting up online and blended modules for our BSc in Chemistry with Artificial Intelligence. They have provided invaluable support in creating and redesigning content, setting up online assessments, and implementing interactive features in chemistry modules. Their expertise was invaluable in the running of our first year online hackathon, where they created a user-friendly environment and ensured all ran smoothly over the multi-day event. The Studios team are approachable and efficient, and their creativity really transformed my ideas into a rich learning environment for our students.” - Dr. Emma Coyle, School of Chemical Sciences

"The entire DCU Studio team were patient and supportive to us in every aspect of the project development life cycle. [...] The established guidelines and infrastructure to progress the entire programme as well as responsive and timely feedback to our queries meant that the work programme flowed with good humour easily over the duration of the course development. What is particularly remarkable was that from beginning to end the entire process was completed online with no face-to-face meetings due to DCU Covid 19 guidelines." - Dr. Pamela Hussey, School of Nursing, Psychotherapy and Community Health
