Company Invitation to Participate

Employee Reactions to Change Survey

DCU Business School is currently leading a major research project in collaboration with the University of Maryland concerning how companies maintain employee engagement during periods of change. We wish to recruit organisations to participate in this survey based project. Already, two large companies are working with us. There is no charge for the employee survey and we provide a customised report to each organisation together with a follow up workshop. We are particularly interested in employee reactions to the leadership of change before, during and after change. The project is led by Dr Janine Bosak and Professor Patrick Flood at DCU Business School. Confidentiality of participants, companies and employees are guaranteed.

The Employee Reactions to Change Survey is important because it assesses how change in the work environment affects employee engagement and related outcomes such as employee absenteeism and turnover. The survey assesses the impact of change faced by both managers and employees and identifies practical ways to ensure that work experiences remain positive. This provides the opportunity for employers to increase engagement and enhance performance before, during, and after an organisational change process.

In addition to measuring employee engagement levels the survey also assesses the underlying causes of employee engagement and employees reactions to organisational change. Leadership is regarded as a key feature in promoting engagement and other positive experiences during an organisational change process. Despite the predominant role of leaders in the change process, an unanswered question concerns the extent to which employees respond differently to leadership behaviour. Therefore the survey also seeks to determine whether positive leadership can maintain optimism, hope, and constructive work experiences during and after the change process for those employees affected. The change survey also offers insights to employers about key human resource management practices that can be used to maintain positive work experiences during and after the change process.
